Betty lived a very full life dividing her time between Benton Harbor, Michigan and Avondale, Arizona. She was a school teacher for many years and was famous as a breeder of Toy and Miniature Poodles under the Yerbrier prefix. Betty knew each and everyone of her dogs and amazingly could recite anything to do with their pedigrees, health records, etc. She was an “old time “ breeder in the manner in which she conducted her breeding program. She had a sizable kennel, although she kept many of her favorites as house pets, and several litters at a time. She employed a number of people is kennel help. Her program was hugely successful and she had many dogs who became top producers with accomplished show careers.
She worked with several top handlers, including Bud Dickey, Todd Patterson, Dana Plonkey, Tim Brazier, and Angela Raychel. Betty worked closely with other breeders.: Jane Winne (Syntifny), Pat McMullin (Michanda), Dana (Valcopy), Angela (Anmorae), Jaye Klein Justice (Mari) to name a few.
Betty loved to entertain and her summer parties in Michigan were always festive. She enjoyed her friends and her dogs. Later in life, she spent most of her time in Arizona. Angela moved in with her to be of help as Betty’s health declined. Condolences to her family and friends. (Pictures courtesy of Angela Raychel.). Betty supported VSPC with trophies in many, many shows. We are dedicating an entire 2026 show to her.
Peg grew up in Chicago, Illinois and then moved to Northern New Jersey. Onel night after she graduated college and became a teacher, she met her loving husband Bud the father of their children, William Cooper, and Robert Cooper. Then they both one day decided to move to Phoenix, AZ. Peg and Bud were together over 50 years and created an amazing life for them and their family. She enjoyed small children and taught 3rd and 4th grade. After retiring she enjoyed breeding poodles. She showed them under the SunKis prefix and was part of a Valley of the Sun Poodle Club for 40 years. She was funny, smart, and loved to play the piano.
